besroma
Do you have a favorite Madhur Jaffrey cookbook? If you could buy only two, which would you buy? Also, would you buy the book or Kindle format? Thanks!
Legomom
I like World Vegetarian a lot. I have it in paperback and I prefer it to having it on a Kindle just because it is easier for me to browse through. I have too many cookbooks though, so it would be nice to have it on the Kindle to save space.
kalanamak
Spice Kitchen is small, but introduces perfect uses for all the Indian spices. Back when I entertained, I cooked out of that book for nicer meals. No flops. I don't eat meat, and just followed her recipes and it went perfectly. Like ajwain chicken. The Bazaar Potatoes are very tasty. If you want an intro to learning how to cook Indian food, I prefer Julie Sahni, Classical and Classical Veg Cooking. I've heard M.J's World of the East cooking pooh-poohed as too broad and not authentic enough, but I've never had something lousy out of it. Great peanut sauce, great glass noodles. Belacqua
I've used her Invitation to Indian Cooking so often that my copy is in deplorable condition (falling apart, turmeric stains, an immovable blob of what is probably dal on the cover...). My current source for recipe ideas, though, is the cashier at my favorite Indian grocery. I asked her advice about something once, and now whenever I go she gives me all sorts of suggestions and recommendations. Girlfriend knows her way around paneer! besroma
Thank you! Amazon had a price drop on her Quick & Easy Indian Cooking, but I wanted to get some advice here because I prefer to only have one or two cookbooks for Indian food.
