HappyGrace
Now that they've been out for awhile, I was wondering how your children like them. The chants look okay, but the lesson looks so dry-just him at the whiteboard! Dd will be doing LFC nxt yr at co-op, and I'm afraid it will bore her to death after Lively Latin this yr. I thought the DVDs might make it better, but it looks like it would make it worse! What are your thoughts? Thanks!
Sorbie
ds LOVES the skits on the new DVD's. I switch back and forth between the new and the old versions because he learns more from the first set. I have to agree with you, the whiteboard lessons are painful to watch. Cindyg
I am not using LFC as my curriculum, so I can't really comment on the curriculum as curriculum. But I've watched a few lessons, and they are really neat.
WABeth
When I saw the sample for the new DVD, I also worried it would be very dry. But really they are pretty good. The "whiteboard" session is pretty short for each chapter and my daughter follows along great. Then there are funny skits and interviews with the children that she really enjoys. I am really glad we have them and it is allowing my 9yo to learn Latin almost independently.
Elohcin
We love it. The skits are great and are my daughters favorite part.
ArwenA
The new DVDs are great for DD9. Like others have said the skits are great and the whiteboard part not too long.
Kathy in MD
We have both sets and ds can select which ones to watch. Ds is older and basically teaches himself from the DVD's and the assignments.
samba
I've never seen the new ones so I can't comment on them but my dd likes to watch the lessons and then watch them again as review. I think they're fine but she thinks they're great. Carolyn
Jlynn
And the lesson includes the kids reciting the chants first, then him at the board, then a skit or a little snippit about one of the kids. It really isn't boring at all. I also like how you can choose whether you want to play the session with Classical or Ecclissiastical Pronunciation.
