Hoggirl
For those of you have this type of waffle iron...can the waffle batter be made the night before? Any good recipes for this? Cynthia
Elisabeth in IL
My thought is no, you can't make the batter the night before. The reason has something to do with the baking soda and / or powder becoming active once it gets wet.
StacyWithFourRugrats
If it is a belgian waffle mater, I use Alton Brown's recipe and it can be made the night before. Do NOT mix more than necessary. Only until the liquid is mixed with the dry ingredients. There will be lumps leftover but trust me, do not worry about it. *After looking at the link, I noticed he uses half wheat and half white on the website. I usually use all AP flour. Next time I will try half of each to make it healthier. We make these once a week or two. His buttermilk pancakes are great too.* I believe this the recipe link. http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_32037,00.html
Faithseed
Using the Sue Gregg method, but I never seem to think that far ahead. I'm anxious to hear if anyone else has tried it. In fact, I'll try it tonight, and see what happens. Wouldn't be the first time that breakfast has been ruined in my house! :D ~Faithseed

Faithseed
Using the Sue Gregg method. I'm not sure if I can post the recipe here, as it is copyrighted (??) The basic idea is to pour buttermilk, and whole wheat berries with a touch of oil into the blender, blend for 3 minutes, then let it sit overnight. In the morning, add egg, and leavening agents. Blend for another 1 min, and cook. They came out just as fluffy and good as any other recipe that we've used. DH and I didn't care for the fact that there were harder pieces of wheat that we could still taste, so I'll be experimenting a little bit more with maybe soaking the grains whole overnight before blending. I think the most important thing is not to add the leavening until right before you cook, and you'll be fine. Hope this helps! ~Fatihseed
