Guest kacifl
A member of our homeschool group's son is graduating from HS. We've been invited to attend his graduation ceremony. We've know this young man since he was very little. We really like his family. I'd like to give him $100, in his grad. card. But I'm a little worried that his parents may think they need to do the same when our dc graduate. I'm really backwards when it comes to social protocol. I just don't know what to do. Any advice? Thanks, K
Kathleen in VA
Well, you can't really control how they would feel when the times come for your children to graduate. You can only do what you feel is right for you. $100 is very generous and I'm fairly sure the graduate would be very grateful for such a gift - I know I would be. I would not stress about how they might feel the need to reciprocate later - you just don't have any control over the way others feel. I say give the gift you want to give. You sound a like a very kind, generous and thoughtful friend. I have a feeling they will take it in the spirit of kindness in which you are giving it.
