Hillary in KS
Ds 13 would like to learn German next year, but I'm having a hard time finding a program for him. We've done Rosetta Stone Spanish, so I'm okay with Rosetta Stone. But ds wants a program with more grammar instruction. (He really likes the way Elementary Greek and Latina Christiana are set up, in that respect.) maybe there's something that could be used in combination with Rosetta Stone? There's a correspondence program in Oklahoma that sounds good, but it'd cost $500-$600/ yr., and that's WAY out of our price range. Is there a good German program out there? What have you used with success?
jananc
My ds is using the Learnables for German this year. He really liked the introduction part, which was on the computer, but has slowed down with it since getting into the Basic Structures I. This first year is a lot of listening and learning to understand spoken German, then the following years get into more grammar, I think. Not a perfect solution, but certainly less expensive than the online course!
JoyinWI
I've been using an old German course from the state department - (I think I actually heard about it on this forum) and livemocha.com. This combination has been a good fit for us and seems to strike a good balance. Here's the link for - http://www.fsi-language-courses.com/German.aspx
