Brenda in MA
Lisa, If I wanted to get the first book as a supplement to Henle Latin, would I need the other materials that they carry, like the student manual, grammar book, etc.? TIA, Brenda
LisaNY
Hi Brenda, I would not get Grammatica Latina. It is not a real grammar, it's just a list of paradigms. You don't need that, since you have that in Henle's grammar. What has been recommended is to cover six chapters or so of Henle, and then go to LL until you run into grammar forms that Henle has not covered yet. Latine Disco will come in handy insofar as it tells you what grammar is actually covered in each Capitula. You could also get the Latin-English vocabulary booklet and Colloquia Personarum, which is a set of stories that coincide with each capitula. Most of them are pretty humorous. What Lingua Latina will do for you is give you the opportunity to flesh out what you've learned in Henle. IMO, it puts everything into a meaningful context. Hope that helps! :)
