Shelly in IL
I am looking at purchasing a mixer for bread making. Bosch are awesome, but REALLY expensive. I found a 5 year old Kitchenetics machine for $100, has a 1.8 hp motor and 1000 watts. ANybody know if these are any good? I don't want to waste money! Thanks. RedHen6
I made bread in a Kitchenetics (used to be K-Tec) mixer for years. I do think the Bosch is better--I replaced my old one for a Bosch about two years ago--but it will certainly do the job. The biggest difference I found was not in the power of the motor, but in all the attachments. For instance, in the various beaters or whips, there are plastic parts, and they aren't as sturdy as those on the Bosch. Once upon a time I was using the whips on a fairly thick cream cheese mixture, and the plastic gears started shearing off and leaving little plastic pieces in my dessert! But if you can afford the $100? I would do it!
pageta
I have my mom's Bosch that she got in the mid-1980s and used weekly to make 5 loaves of WW bread for years. I don't use it as often as she does, but the quality speaks for itself.
mooooom
replaced it with a Bosch that does 6 loaves at a time. Worth it for me because I don't have a lot of time to make bread.
