chai
I thought that my dd is a natural speller and have done very little spelling work with her. We talk about spelling rules when we come across them in other work. When we do a spelling test, she generally gets them all correct. However, when she writes for herself--reports, invitations--she has lots of spelling errors. She makes mistakes on words that she should know. I think that some of it is laziness, but I wonder if I need to do more teaching. Any suggestions? Would the Calvert Spelling CD be of any help here? I've heard both good and bad reviews on that program for "natural" spellers.
Diane
We don't use a spelling curriculum yet, but we are continuing with the ETC series, and it has helped my son immensely.
GreenKitty
We have used Natural Speller and the Calvert Spelling cd (which I find very good), also SWO and various other items... You can also just pick up some other spelling games, like DK Spelling, for the computer.
