koko
Hi, I am looking for a historical fiction book to read to my 3rd grader about the founding of modern Israel in 1948. Suggestions?
Lori D.
The only historical fiction I can think of is "After The War" (Matas), but it is more of the years between 1945-48, a Jewish teen girl who survived the concentration camps and is orphaned by the war suffers more trying to get to Israel. I don't think I'd do this book this a child under the age of 12. I saw Amazon has a non-fiction book for ages 9-12 on the formation of modern Israel: "Founding of the State of Israel" (Bard), from the At Issue History series. And here's a sort of historical fiction from Amazon; don't know for what ages: - Jeremiah's Promise: An Adventure in Modern Israel (Do-It-Yourself Jewish Adventure Series) by Kenneth Roseman BEST of luck finding what works for your family! Warmly, Lori D.
