SarahMomof4
We’re using the Well Trained Mind Grammar and Writing Books. Started mid-year with the Level 1 (daughter is in 1st grade). Would you finish the books fully before moving to Level 2 or start Level 2 at the beginning of 2nd grade regardless?
HomeAgain
Bear in mind we didn't use these, but.......our rule of thumb is to just pick up where we left off, but then when we start a new level we go a bit quicker through the beginning lessons that are often review. I do this for two reasons. The first is that I like going at our pace, with the ability to take as much or as little time as needed. The second is because when I look further down the line, I see that lessons get more difficult. I'd hate for a child to be unprepared because we cut material short. There's a beauty in things being simply "levels" and not grade levels. No need to match to an age or be very rigid about it. You simply do each level and move through at a pace right for each kid.
caffeineandbooks
If you feel like she's mastered the material in WWE1 and want to move on, you could always have her do the "mastery evaluation" in week 36. If she can do that, she's ready for level 2.
