Janeway
It would be nice to have workbook format. Regardless, it should be capable of being self teaching (he won't be home for a few weeks and he needs to work on it alone) and does not require internet access (he has no internet). I plan for us to continue using it after he comes home. This will not really be for high school credit as he already took Algebra 1, geometry, algebra 2, and a basic statistics course in public high school. I am considering something as basic as "College Algebra for Dummies." Anything I can print or buy quickly would be good. He hates math so it needs to be user friendly. It does not have to be a workbook, but it does need to be visually appealing..as in, not cluttered pages with small print.
Gil
Get a 1 subject notebook and a used copy of Teach Yourself Algebra Visually as a review or as a preview/extension, Teach Yourself Calculus Visually. There is also the Humongous Book of Algebra Problems Translated for People Who Don't Speak Math.
