JazzyMom
Any suggestions for a simple creative program to do with my 9 and 11 yo boys? Ideally, it would be something we could do in a few months or a semester. They are beginning writers. Right now they are just writing a short science essay once per week, and they will probably continue with that through the end of the semester. They are interested in learning to write a short story. Shoes+Ships+SealingWax
Now would be the perfect time to get started with NaNoWriMo! It stands for National Novel-Writing Month & they have a Young Writer’s Program with free planning workbooks. They would spend the rest of October working through the process of brainstorming, setting / character building, & plot outlining. Then all of November they’d write, write, write. In December there is the option to clean things up - have others proofread & ask questions, revise, & then “publish” their final product! ywp.NaNoWriMo.org
