Literature for 8th grade

In WTM it talks about doing outlines or literary review at the end of each book the student reads.  But I can't seem to find anything that says there's any writing each day after they are done reading for that day.  Is there no writing or summary associated with each day of Lit reading that is recommended in WTM?

As far as I know, there is no daily writing component about books read. It's just weekly (like the literary essays she talks about from 5th grade up), or after the book is finished.

Writing after every single time you read would be a book ruining slog for most kids anyway, at least with fiction. However, when using outling, students are writing as they read. You outline as you go. But this is a tool primarily for nonfiction.
