Pathway Readers

My son is loving the Amish Pathway readers. I am buying him the second grade level for our next semmester of school. He flew through the 1st grade books. We have not been doing these as "school" just for free reading.

Is there any point in slowing him down? Does the content ever get to the point of being too much for young kids? I am thinking since the Amish write these stories that there is nothing to worry with content as he keeps moving up. Even if he is a few grades ahead right?
