Great app for summer reading

Recommended Posts

My virtual charter school recommended this app: http://spoonread.net/. It’s pretty great. There are classic books to read but the reading is broken up into chunks to make it manageable and not overwhelm a child. Then they answer a few questions about what they read. There are classics to try for free like White Fang, Just So Stories and Treasure Island. There are some others to buy like Alice in Wonderland for $2.99 which includes the book and questions. There are not that many books yet but apparently it’s new so they are still rolling out titles. It’s been a great way to assign DS reading and make sure he is getting the material because he tends to skim.

I emailed just to be sure. This was the response:

In response to your question sent into info@spoonread.net, the answer is that we use unabridged books in any case possible. Many of the ebooks we use are downloaded through Wikisource; the following link is an example of "The Jungle Book" downloaded through an EPUB format: http://www.feedbooks.com/book/162/the-jungle-book. So yes, the title we have in our application is unabridged content.

If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to ask or call myself at (831) 600-6665

Thank you,
