ShariM
This is for an average student who neither hates, nor loves math, but he does well. Basics. AoPS seems overkill for us. He's done Singapore Primary Mathematics since Kindergarten. He likes short lessons and short explanations. I like uncluttered pages. I did Saxon with older students, and although it covers everything very thoroughly, it was just way too long. Any suggestions? Nothing too different. Just basic and secular. Thanks.
2ndGenHomeschooler
My DD has been doing Singapore Dimensions. We like it. If you go through 8b that’s supposed to be the equivalent of finishing Algebra 1.
ShariM
I will look at it. Thank you.
MinivanMom
My average kid really loved Lial's Pre-Algebra. The pages are very clean, and the instruction is straight-forward. And the relative ease and repetitiveness of the problem sets also built up his confidence after years of Singapore CWP.
ShariM
Is this available new somewhere? I'm seeing various versions and I'm not sure what's current.
MinivanMom
We have the third edition from 2005 with the long wooden pier on the cover. We bought the older edition on Amazon, because it was much less expensive. They don't change much between editions except the cover. You can find the 3rd, 4th, and 5th editions on Amazon. Just be sure you buy the same edition of the Student Solution Manual.
