Earthmerlin
This may seem a bit off-beat but I'd like some ideas on kiddie contests. I think it might be a fun and comfidence-booster for my 8 year old daughter. What types of contests do kids this age enter? Jackie
My daughter is doing the National Mythology Exam and Math Kangaroo this year. Deadlines have passed for enrollment in both, but you could look into them for next year. We also started a Destination Imagination team this year. This is a much bigger undertaking than the NME or MK, with regular meetings for months, but she’s been loving it and is excited about regionals next month.
Earthmerlin
Jackie, thanks for the reply! I know Ranger Rick has a kids' photo (&/or letter) page--not sure if it's a contest per se. My daughter likes to write short poems. I should look into that as well. I'm going to keep my eyes peeled for local things too (although I honestly don't know where to start & if there are too many). Little things of that nature....
