SEGway
The thread comparing Cottage Press to Writing and Rhetoric reintroduced me to the CP offerings. Has anyone compared them to Kathy Jo DeVore's ELtL? I'd love to hear your opinion if you're familiar with them both! TIA Sarah

Guest
I've only used CP primers, series one and two and ELTL 1 (the red book). There is a lot more drawing in CP. Also more (as in any) little bible stories. Grammar is similarly "gentle" in both. ELTL self-evidently has more reading built in to the program. They both get you where you need to go, and have similar ends in mind. It's strictly a matter of personal preference IMO. If I felt for some reason like I absolutely HAD to pick one or the other, and stick with it through to the end of what the program offers, I might be inclined to pick ELTL. Likewise, if I wanted my English programme to fit in lockstep with my history, I'd do ELTL with Wayfarers. If, otoh, I wanted to do one or two pieces of the curriculum then move on...and/or I had a big fat list of books I wanted my kids to read already, I'd pick CP. The my-own-booklist thing clinched the decision for us. My kids really liked the drawing in CP too. Edited March 24, 2017 by OKBud
