GraceinMD
Can anyone compare the above programs? I'm considering Prealgebra (Chalkdust), but then remembered that I'd previously looked at Life of Fred prealgebra.... Has anyone used (or even HELD and EXAMINED!) these two programs, and can compare them? Would it be better to do LoF prealg and then Chalkdust Algebra I? Or does Chalkdust Prealg prepare the math-hating student better for Chalkdust Alg I?

G5052
LoF really doesn't have a pre-algebra program -- just a book on fractions and a book on decimals, which some would say is not a complete course in pre-algebra. Some pre-algebra programs do step a bit into algebra with a bit of the symbology, but LoF really does not. He says though that you can go from those two books right into algebra. I'm not familiar with the Chaulkdust pre-algebra book, but I'm guessing that it's more detailed the LoF and includes some symbology.
LanaTron
My ds is in Singapore 6, and I just ordered LoF Fractions and Decimals & Percents for him. I think he will be ready for Algebra after Singapore 6, but I wanted to solidify the fractions/decimals/percents stuff. I don't think he'll do pre-algebra. I am leaning towards having him go into Chalkdust Algebra after finishing Sing. 6 and LoF. I am not sure if I will have him do LoF Algebra, too.
