City of Ember

Has anyone done a unit study with City of Ember? I am leading a book club next week, and we always do activities after the discussion. I would love it if you would share any activities or games you did.

 

I think I might have them write an odd job on an index card, take them up, and assign them out like assignment day to see what everyone gets, or I might just use the jobs from the book. 

 

I would like to focus on the social studies aspects of the book. I was considering a lesson on propaganda, but I'd need to come up with something fun to do there. 

 

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I actually remembered that a county manager is in my SS class at church. He's going to come speak to us about city planning, then I'm going to have them work in groups to create cities.
