debi21
Looking through the Cyber Monday deals, and other sales in the last few months, these keep coming up. I was just wondering if anyone's kids had tried them out. All the reviews look 'fake' to me. My son saw a video on them at the Arizona Science Center while we were there on Thanksgiving vacation and has expressed an interest. It seems clear that 3D printing is an awesome thing and a much more expensive thing. But the pens are much cheaper - is there some real STEM / maker educational potential there or is it all hokey? Would love to know if anyone has a recommendation for a brand. I tried searching but didn't find anything.

Would love to know if anyone has a recommendation for a brand. I tried searching but didn't find anything. I ordered MYNT3D 3D pen for my son for his birthday. It was rather cheap. We followed the instructions exactly and could never get the motor that pulls the line through to work. Followed website guidance which led me to the advice to return the defective device. Well, OK, maybe we just got a dude. Ordered a replacement and I'll be, the motor on that one would only run in reverse. Opened the pen up, examined the engineering and determined that this pen was designed by Dopey of the 7 Dwarfs. So, I am not sure it is a good idea.
