Amanda's Mommy
Here's another recipe that our ds's esp. love. Came from FatFreeVegan.com. and I've adjusted it to our tastes. Easy Macaroni and Cheeze 1 pound pasta (regular or gluten-free), cooked (we usually cook more pasta than this) Blend together: 1 1/4 cups water (I leave almost all of this out to make it creamier like the boxed stuff we used to buy.) 1 cup plain, fat-free soymilk (may use other non-dairy milk) 3/4 cup nutritional yeast 3 tablespoons cornstarch or potato starch 1 tablespoon lemon juice 1 teaspoon salt (or more to taste) 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder 1 teaspoon onion powder 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika 1/2 teaspoon turmeric (I use less) pinch cayenne pepper 2 tablespoons tahini 1 teaspoon mellow white miso (or additional salt) black pepper to taste Blend and pour over pasta. Eat. 25yos says it tastes better than the boxed stuff (which I never liked, but he could have lived off of) I know it defeats the fat free, but can you use regular milk? And what is nutritional yeast and where can you get it?
LNC
I've seen this recipe on some vegan blogs and really want to try it. Where do you all get the nutritional yeast? Does it have a brand name? Does Trader Joe's have it? Thanks for the info!!

I get nutritional yeast in the bulk foods section at the local grocery stores (well, the grocery stores that have bulk foods sections!) or at the co-op. I never though to look on the shelf to see if it is available pre-packaged.
