Colleen
Is there possible to see samples of this online? I've noticed people mentioning the text in a positive light but I'd like to get a feel for how it's laid out and what it covers. Also curious how long your students have spent with this text. Thanks! Colleen
Seems like I hear Warriners mentioned pretty often. Anyone want to jump in?:)
Jan P.
Colleen, Jean in Wisconsin has used the Warriner books. Perhaps she could answer your questions. I have a couple of old Warriner textbooks . I think I have the Complete Course, but it's copyright is 1957. I can see if I can scan a few pages and send them in a JPG ?? file to you. Please shoot me a PM. I have a newer edition (either a sophomore or junior book). I can send a few copies too. They are all basically laid out the same. The higher level books just contain more "stuff". I used Warriner's way back in the 1970's when I went to high school. Man I'm old!! Jan (wish I could find raw milk around here to drink!) Miss Marple
Jan, we may be oldies, but I'd say we're goodies, too! I used Warriner's in high school in the 70's as well and I really liked it then and am enjoying using it now with my boys. Colleen, I'm using the 3rd course with my 7th and 8th graders following the Laura Berquist (?) syllabus for it. It is difficult to find TMs that match but you can get answer keys off some websites. Christine Miller of Classical Christian Homeschooling has outlined the sections of the Complete Course that she feels important. She uses the text over the span of the high school years. Again, it is very difficult to find a TM for the Complete Course. I have a 1982 (?) version - I think it's the Franklin Edition. I can scan some pages in and e-mail them to you if you're interested in it. I'm going to use the Complete Course with my 15 yos but won't start it for a few months yet.
