MomOfABunch
After the longest time of DS struggling (I mean me nagging and fighting with him) to get math done, I signed him up for an AoPS online class. Last night was the first class and today, he is doing his math with no problems and no nagging for the first time in forever!! Share my joy :)
lexi
Yay! I am outsourcing science next semester through Landry. I'm looking forward to it!!! It's such a relief to have them work on their own (and answer to someone else occasionally).
...................
Yes, we are outsourced for 8th grade Physical Science (my son is 7th but had covered advanced material with Calvert), and we are back to using Jann in TX for Math, with My Homeschool Math Class. We love having a little accountability. We hate the Apologia Science class. I like Science being outsourced, and I like the outside accountability to stay on schedule. But their teacher is boring, the class is lecture based almost completely, and the requirements are about a 12th grade level as far as lab reports and independence, so we won't be using Apologia Academy again. Maybe Landry, although I think they use BJU. We love Jann's class. We also hired a local friend/ tutor for Math Enrichment/Problem solving to get him used to thinking mathematically and ready for being a math major in college. Which, he is not ready right now, as far as the way he thinks about or approaches math. She is a total blessing. He actually looks forward to seeing her.
