BarbecueMom
DS6 is likely growth spurting, given his vocabulary explosion, baby teeth dropping out, and penchant for melting down over encountering two-letter words when reading (he's almost done with phonics lessons... sheesh). Lately he's been resistant, no that's not quite it, hostile to wearing any kind of shoes. He says his feet "feel awkward" and his arches feel too high, but no pain at all. His feet haven't really grown much in a year, but last time they grew 2 1/2 sizes between shoe shopping trips. I haven't noticed his shoes getting tighter yet, but he's been freaking out over wearing his new, bigger sandals too. He's in a gym class at the same place DS4 takes gymnastics where he doesn't wear shoes, and he also plays soccer and baseball. I'm not sure if this is something typical of kids with fast-growing feet that we just need to wait out, or something else we should be getting checked out, or do we need to start buying a specific athletic shoe for him? He does have wide feet, which makes finding comfortable shoes difficult anyway. Ideas?
