bobbeym
I just love it when you see something click for your kid. We're studying Hamlet this week, and learned Sunday that Shakespeare is presumed to have written the play to help him get over the grief of loosing his 11yo son Hamnet. Last night as we started looking at the soliloquies he realized "To be or not to be" is about suicide. And then it clicked. He says, "Mom, what if he wrote this like this because he was considering suicide because of how much he missed his son?" And then went on to tell me there are names for spouses and children who loose the spouse/parents but nothing special to call a parent who has lost a child. He still struggled with paraphrasing the soliloquy itself, but it was good to see he gets the overall concept of it. What were some moments when it clicked for your kids?
