mamamin
would be for my DS for 1st grade. I am between this program and Lightning lit's newest grade 1 program. Does LLTL do any sort of comprehension? Any writing at all (besides copy work) about what they have read? Could someone who has used it walk me through a typical lesson? thanks! Rai B.
Level one slowly introduces comprehension of the fables using Charlotte Mason style narration. There is not physical writing besides copywork. A typical lesson in level one: A chapter from a read aloud book, a brief usage-and-mechanics grammar lesson, a poem, a fable, and a copywork sentence (from read aloud, and related to grammar lesson). The narrations start with picture narrations. Starting about halfway through there is additional copywork from a poem, maxim, or bible verse. HejKatt
Hi Mamamin, if you haven't already seen it, this thread may be helpful. I think the author of the curriculum also pops in to answer questions on it, and she has created a Yahoo group. http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/495070-i-may-have-found-what-im-looking-for-in-a-program-that-truly-uses-literature-to-study-la-skills/ http://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/barefootragamuffins/info

Korrale
You could certainly expand on it and add your own comprehension questions. I have my so narrate the book/chapter that we read and I type it up for him. We also create a vocabulary list of words he doesn't know.
