jonnia
I want to do a solid year of PreAlgebra with my rising 7th grader next year. I am considering AoPS but also wonder if Kahn Academy is an option. Those of you who have used it, is there enough "meat" to it? Thanks in advance! wapiti
It's been awhile since I looked at Khan, but I do not believe they are comparable. Khan leans much more toward procedure and drill. In contrast, AoPS is among the best for concept development and problem solving. They are completely different. Not that resources can't be blended, but even for a student who would not find a fit with AoPS, I can't say that I'd choose to solely rely on Khan. I think using a traditional text would be a better option. Note that anyone can use the AoPS videos and Alcumus (or Khan for that matter), for free, to supplement whatever their main text is. jonnia
I've never actually looked at Alcumus or the AoPS videos. This looks terrific! Leaning now toward the text with these online supplements. Thank you.
