minuway
Full article here I found this interesting, and thought many on here might too, especially considering many here value "disciplined study or repetitive learning" a bit more highly in general than other segments of the educational population, but we are also often accused of doing so at the detriment of creativity. Encouraging to think of the way one complements the other.
MamaChicken
Thank you for posting this! A wonderful music teacher taught me to counter the comment that "talented young musicians burn out" with the reply that "sometimes they decide to do something other than music with their lives, and when they do they apply the discipline and precision that they learned from music and they do it very very well." Kim in Appalachia
Thanks for posting that. It's a wonderful counter article to the horrible one I read this morning in the New Republic. This article made me mad for its lack of appreciation of the disipline learned by learning an instrument or any other benefit gained.
