mysticmomma
Ds wants to do chemistry next year, but it seems like the sequence is set up to do earth next. Big deal? Experiences?
Hunter
Mr Q follows the TWTM rotation: life, earth, chem, physics.
mysticmomma
That's what I thought. How detrimental could it possibly be to do chem first?
Hunter
I don't think it would be a problem at all. But I have learned not to plan spines around student interest. I try to keep the spine ultra ultra ultra lean, and then do the TWTM library method to satisfy student interest, in all the time leftover, because I kept the spine so lean. On each library visit, I had them check out the following books: one science book, one history book, one art or music appreciation book, one practical book (a craft, hobby, or “how-toâ€), a biography or autobiography, a classic novel (or an adaptation suited to age), an imaginative storybook, a book of poetry. I need to teach in a way that make sense to me, and satisfies my OCD tendencies. What they "unschool" needs to meet their needs as they are the primary teacher, then. If the student is that interested in chem, they can get a chem book for "science" and a chem experiment book for "practical", until the phase passes and they are interested in something else.
