HappyGrace
I know Foerster's and many others do this, and it is something I want dd to know how to do-does TT Alg 1 teach it throughout? Thanks. I'm 99.5% decided on TT, but this would be the deciding factor. (I have no clue how to use one of those fancy calculators they need to know how to use!) regentrude
(I have no clue how to use one of those fancy calculators they need to know how to use!) Why would a student need to know how to use a fancy calculator (or, for that matter, any calculator at all) in algebra 1? Even for the SAT2 subject test in math, a simple scientific calculator is sufficient, so I would not take this as a good criterion for the choice of math curriculum (if anything, I'd prefer a program that teaches without relying on a calculator). The scientific calculator needs no explicit teaching, it is completely self-explaining. So, if you're set on this program, just go ahead; calculator is really not an issue at this stage.
