diplomum
I'm abandoning the OM4 as written and using the math and art right now. I'm planning on using the literature selections as unit studies instead, making folder books, a display, or scrap books or notebooks with each one, depending on how we feel. Next up is The Search for Delicious and I'm not finding too many ideas online and my brain isn't being very cooperative or creative. If anyone has done anything fun with this book, or has links for me, I'd be so very grateful. K.
nmoira
You could look at the science of taste, and the relative evolutionary advantage of our being attracted to certain types of food. Look at some examples of what are considered delicacies in different cultures, and regionally around the US (assuming you're in the US). Make the child's favourite dish together and trace its history.
umsami
We're doing OM4 and have abandoned a lot. LOL Why not doing a poll to see what is "delicious" to various family members? Also try to define other words that way...maybe even create your own picture dictionary filled with collages of pictures of what different words "mean"? Plan a field trip to where they make delicious things...like a local bakery, ice cream place, or chocolate factory. Might get a really knowledgable person who can explain the science of chocolate or what not. :)
