Lori D.
My boys would like to do a project on water erosion. I was wondering if anyone could recommend any good resources, lapbooks, etc. ? Thanks Here are some resources for experiments: Weathering and Erosion Experiments Science Class.Net: Weathering & Erosion, under "Activities & Labs", each of the 12 "Stations" is a simple, easy-to-do experiment Dirtmeister's Science Lab: Science Lab on Erosion Dig This! Erosion Investigations eHow: Soil Erosion Experiments eHow: Water Erosion Experiments PBS Nature: Glacial Erosion Activities Look for children's non-fiction books at your library on erosion; some ideas: Cracking Up (Bailey) Erosion: Changing Earth's Surface (Koontz) Early Bird Science: Erosion (Riley) The Disappearing Mountain and Other Earth Mysteries (Spilsbury) Worksheets, Lapbook Materials I couldn't find much, but thought you could design your own, based on info from a book or these short little "bites of info" on erosion (from One Geology Kids website), photos of experiments, and maybe including something like this as one element = Marcia's Science Teaching Ideas: Types of Weathering vocabulary cut-and-paste worksheet. Videos: "Magic School Bus: Rocks and Rolls" (water erosion), season 3, episode 12, which is on this 3-episode DVD go along hands-on activity Slideshows: University of Kentucky: Earth & Environmental Sciences: Educational Materials: Weathering Animation -- flash animation of Weathering (a type of erosion) Glacier Animation Shoreline Animation River Floods Photos/Illustrations: National Geographic Photo Gallery: Erosion and Weathering Encyclopedia Britannia for Kids: Types of Erosion
