Teens near Pensacola/Gulf Breeze?

Recommended Posts

Is there anyone out there??? :)

My son is 15, a Freshman. We know there are some home-school groups in Pensacola, but their teens don't really have any planned group activities (or if they do, we can't find them). I've tried to get involved in a group, but doors do not seem to open, and their website is dismally out of date (activities from 2010....). I think they probably communicate internally, so difficult to get in the loop.

We are secular home-schoolers, but personally have no issues with anyone's religious beliefs.

I homeschooled in that area when we lived there and were part of a group, sort of, for a year. They were all friends/neighbors outside of the co op and there were many people who came to visit, looking for a group and co op, and left after a visit or two. I stayed a year because my son made a friend in the group, but we overstayed our welcome. I know there are many Christian homeschoolers in the Gulf Breeze/Navarre areas; if interested in making contact with someone, give Midway Baptist Church a call. They have many hsers there, including high schoolers, and could perhaps point you to other groups. Good luck finding a secular group!

Shannon, Ithinkers? I'm having a really hard time getting any kind of updates from them. I contacted a 'leader' can't remember who it was, and they said they would get me in contact with some of the teen parents but never did. I think they have a drama club (which my son would hate) and they go to the Swing Dance Fridays (which we have done once - but had no idea who was home-schooled, or if anyone was even there).

If you'd like - i can give you my contact info so that you don't have to give out theirs? Would love to hear from anyone there....

Wilrunner, the non-secular groups around here all (as far as I have found) have statements of faith. We were part of a group when we first moved here that was all-inclusive. My kids had many friends there, but they changed and folded into the Christian Home Educators, so we had to leave the group. It was very hard on us, I can tell you that.
