I'm frustrated right now. :) Does anyone have a worksheet they could send me re: grammar grade 8, specifically linking verbs with predicate nominatives and the "sometime" linking verbs that appear to be linking, but actually show action and therefore would NOT contain a p.n? If you have this, would you be willing to send online? My dd completed this exercise in her book and made many mistakes. She's normally good in grammar. We've reviewed and reviewed and she's hit a roadblock with a mini meltdown. :( There were 4 sentences in her group of 18 that contained NO linking verbs. Of course, they tried to throw the student a curve ball to make them think. They "look" like linking verbs, but how they are used in the sentence these 4 were actually action verbs and did not contain p.n's. She got those wrong. She proceeded to "mark" the "linking looking action verbs" as linking verbs when she was not supposed to b/c they were action and not linking. ARG!
