Thermal Binders....anyone own or use one?

I'm looking for a binding system to keep home-made workbooks together and create keepsake/yearbooks. In the past, I've had full reams of paper punched at OfficeMax and then used that paper and our own spiral coils. But, there always seems to be a page that gets done on regular paper and then I can't add it to the book. I have a clickclack binder but it only holds 30ish pages.

I've considered getting a coil binder of my own, but I came across the thermal ones and love the look of a 'real' book. But, it just seems like the system wouldn't make a very good, solid book. So, I'm wondering if anyone has actually created and used a book bound this way. I know there is a version made for crafters as well as business models. Perhaps someone has tried it out???
