texasmama
My employer recently provided a blood testing for all employees free of charge. I had my a full panel done, and everything was normal except for cholesterol. Here are my results - HDL - 56, Triglycerides - 125, LDL - 137, Total cholesterol - 218. The total and the LDL were flagged as being borderline high. I don't exercise at all. My diet is better than average but not optimal. Thoughts? Are these results concerning? (BTW, I am 45 year old woman.)
Laurie4b
Your HDL and triglycerides are good. You could work on bringing your LDL down. Generally, it's accepted that you do that by getting rid of trans fats and lowering saturated fats. (Some people OTOH, believe that saturated fats are not a problem.) You can google "lower LDL" and get lots of natural ways to do it--adding soluble fiber, for instance. LDL is very easy to impact by lifestyle changes compared to HDL.
