Tracy
I have a friend who wants to do a little afterschooling in math with her dd7. Her school is emphasizing that they want her to do mental math, but they are not really teaching her strategies for doing it. When I showed my friend my various manipulatives, she was very interested in the C-rods. But I haven't utilized them much, so I don't really know where to direct her for how to use them. Can anyone recommend a book that is good for using C-rods to teach mental math strategies? Thanks!

Guest
You could also look at some of Gattegno's books. They are free online but are also available in print, if someone feels they need the copy in their hands: http://calebgattegno.org/teaching-mathematics.html Here's a video (part 1 of 3). These videos are also available in the site I linked above: Edited September 28, 2015 by Guest
Guest
Your friend might find the second book in the link in my previous post, useful. The title of the book: Now Johnny Can Do Arithmetic.
