dirty ethel rackham
Hey all, Now that my first child is almost graduated, I suppose I need to pay attention to my up and coming junior:). He took the SAT earlier this month. While his scores were pretty good, it did tell me that he needs some remediation in critical reading and grammar/mechanics. If he can get those scores up, he may have a good shot at being a National Merit semifinalist. Anyone have any good resources we can use over the summer to help brush up those grammar/mechanics skills? I guess all those years of Latin did not automatically improve his English grammar:). As I was culling my shelves for an upcoming curriculum sale, I came across an unused daily grams for Junior/senior high. Would this work or is it too basic? Also, what can I use to help him with his critical reading? His regular schoolwork is excellent, especially areas where he is required to make connections between various things he as read, so his critical reading issue surprises. Mom2boys
Ellen, what did you wind up using to remediate grammar/mechanics? I need to do the same with my ds, based upon his PSAT and PLAN scores.
