Halcyon
Trying to figure out our next year, and we have CPO Life Science on the dcket, along with some BFSU. Anyway, just trying to figure out how much time to allot. Am thinking 2 one hour sessions, but ot sure that will be enough in realityt. We will be doing the labs, and some of the skill sheets when i feel he needs more exposure. Thanks.
redsquirrel
We are finishing up earth and space, not life science, but the layout is very similar. If it is just a reading day then it won't take very long. The chapter sections only a couple pages long. We always do the questions orally and the whole thing takes 30 mins tops. The investigations don't take much longer. Remember, they were made to be done in maybe a 40 min class period. There is also a chapter review and we do that orally. It also takes 30 mins or so. That has all kinds of questions to chose from, a vocabulary section, a math and writing section etc. I almost always have my son do the vocabulary section and the "concepts" section. We do science 3 or 4 times a week.
Momling
We just use it as a source for homework... so I have the girls (my 4th grader and her 5th grade buddy) read the related chapter to what we've been working on. I also have or will use: brainpop, McHenry (Cells, botany, human body) Lyrical life science, lots of videos etc...
