liamtaylorsmom
Trying to decide on whether to go with SOTW or Sonlight. This is our first year of homeschooling. I really really like that both take a more worldview approach to the telling of history. I agree with the reasoning and would like to do this as well. However, I also want to be sure that DS has a strong grasp of the history of his own country as well. I can clearly see where Sonlight does this but am not as certain about SOTW. Anyone have any input or experience they can share. TIA!
Chrysalis Academy
Yes, you don't really get into "American" history till SOTW3, which covers 1600-1850. It isn't deep coverage at all. In WTM, SWB suggests many American History supplements. Personally I do consider supplementing necessary with SOTW 3 & 4 to get a solid coverage of American History. But that's not hard to do, and I do like that they learn American History embedded within the events of world history, rather than learning about it in isolation.
