Allegro
Hi all, I'm currently taking AP US History through PA Homeschoolers, but would it be worthwhile to take the SAT US History subject test along with the AP test? It seems a little redundant, but I know many selective colleges require SAT subject test scores. What have you guys done? Since (not to brag, but because of my preparation from APUSH) I'll probably score well on the subject test, would it be good to take just so I know I'll have some high subject test scores to send to more selective colleges? Kareni
My daughter took the SAT subject test in American History as well as the AP US History test for precisely the reason you cited (namely she was planning on applying to colleges that required a given number of SAT subject test scores). She did likewise with Latin. Her other SAT subject test was the Math Level 2 test (no similar AP). She also took AP tests in Statistics and Comparative Government and Politics (no similar SAT subject tests). This worked well for her. Brigid in NC
We found this a successful route also. My ds was applying to a college that required three SAT IIs from homeschoolers, so doubling up made a lot of sense. The APUSH & SATII combo worked well for us, as well as the AP Chem & SATII. Good luck on the AP exam! :)
