diaperjoys
My 8yo would, I think, place in level 2A - he'd know a good deal of it already, but it would help him get familiar with concepts before plunging into 2B. However, he doesn't know about "number bonds". Should I have him go way back into 1A or 1B so he has a chance to learn those? Thanks! Momling
I wouldn't bother. I'm pretty sure the concept is reviewed again in 2a but using larger numbers.
Crimson Wife
You can teach number bonds or, as Right Start calls them, "part-whole circles", very easily with a child who knows the addition facts. On a whiteboard, draw a big circle with two little circles coming off the bottom. The whole goes in the big circle and the two parts go in the small ones. Practice filling in two circles and having the child fill in the third. There is a great blog post explaining it here.
