Down_the_Rabbit_Hole
We went to the fossil gorge today and I decided it would be fun to do some rubbings of the fossils we found. We used tracing paper because it is light weight but the crayons did not do well. I tried the side of a pencil and it worked somewhat better. Is there a better way then the side of a crayon or pencil? Maybe a softer medium? Any ideas?
Down_the_Rabbit_Hole
Anyone? We are heading back today and Monday and would love to get some rubbings for our nature journal.
momofkhm
I worked at a place doing *brass* rubbings in college. The paper they bought for us was a rag paper, it was rather thick. And then beeswax crayons, usually used long side down. I don't know if you will be able to just go buy the paper at your art store or even if it will work for your application. But it worked nicely on the brasses we did.
QuirkyKidAcademy
Chalk worked well for the headstone rubbings I did long ago. Pastel chalks, rather than blackboard chalk. They are square, so easier to hold and have a better contact with the paper. I don't remember a special paper, so we probably used printer paper.
