teamturner
Well, I've put it off long enough! I'm looking for some help in deciding what to do w/my spring semester for History study. We just finished in December Modern History, having gone through all of time only once. My older 3 kids are 5th and 6th grades. Here's the timeline of our study: Ancients Kinder/1st Middle Ages 1st/2nd US History 2nd/3rd Early Modern 3rd/4th Modern 4th/5th (+ Fall 5th/6th) At the beginning of the school year, I had planned to do an overview of all history using Brimwood Press materials. Then we would do Ancients in 6th/7th grades and Middle Ages 7th/8th grades. The next year my boys would be in 9th and I wanted to begin the Great Works study so we'd be back in Ancients. I feel like they were so young when we did those two cycles of history (Ancients and Middle Ages) that we really need to hit them again. While I'm tempted to just begin Ancients now, I really feel like my kids would benefit from an overview and see what happened in each century and hit the highlights. Brimwood Press is pretty expensive for such a short study, imo, but if it's really good I don't mind. I just don't find many reviews of it. Has anyone else done this? What materials have you used? Can you recommend a geography study or culture study that we might use alongside of this? Something short is preferable. Thanks for all ideas!! LisaKinVA
I am doing a "transition course" based upon the VP online class. I'm using the history cards, doing a timeline, listening to SOTW, reading literature we never got to... and throwing in some DVDs for good measure. My 12yo is enjoying it :D
Momling
What about Ellen Mchenry's Mapping the World with Art? That would hit the geography and includes a little history too. Or maybe a short unit study like the Intellego ones?
