Another "must-reads for the homeschool parent" thread :)

Recommended Posts

I know these crop up occasionally, but I'd like to see if anyone has anything new to add. On my list are the following

1) Liping Ma's Knowing and Teaching Elementary Mathematics

2) War on Grammar

3) Pocketful of Pinecones

4) Hold Onto Your Kids by Neufeld

5) The Latin Centered Curriculum

6) WTM (of course, should be #1 ;))

7) Marva Collin's Way

8) Dumbing Us Down by Gatto

9) How Children Learn by Holt

10) Punishments by Rewards by Kohn

11) A Charlotte Mason Companion

12) Deconstructing Penguins

13) The Read Aloud Handbook

14) Family Matters by Guterson

15) The Writer's Jungle

16) Simplicity Parenting by Kim Payne

Links to come.

Others? I need a good, inspiring Kindle read :)

The Underground History of American Education by John Taylor Gatto

For the Children's Sake by Susan Schaeffer MacCaulay

The Teenage Liberation Handbook by Grace Llewellyn (outdated but helpful in broadening one's understanding of education)

The Heart of Wisdom Teaching Approach by Robin Sampson (I especially like the chapter comparing Hebrew and Greek educational philosophy)
