Holly in FL
I was working on lesson number 37 with one of my children today and it includes proofreading marks. As I was looking over the answer key, I noticed it uses three lines under words that need to be capitalized, but it does not mention using that "symbol" in the lesson. Grrr. I have always used the "3 lines" when teaching my children...but, when the book said to use "cap" in a circle...I just figured it must be a new way to do it. I know I'm rambling...but, does anyone know why FLL teaches the proofreading marks one way and then has something completely different in the answer key? Also, is there a "standard" list somewhere for proofreading marks? Thanks! ~Holly
amyk
I think it says to underline three times in addition to writing a circled cap in the margin. This always seemed like overkill to me. Aren't the three underlines enough?

nukeswife
My son just did this and they initially say to underline 3 times and write cap in a circle in lesson 4, so maybe it's not in the later lessons. For what it's worth, I've taught my son the 3 lines already without the cap thing so we just do the lines.
