boscopup
For a 10 yo, I'd go with the BP maps. The maps in SOTW AG are great for a first grader - any kid that can read can do them independently. The BP maps require labeling and such. I used them for my first grader, but I had to do all the writing. I really liked their maps though, and my son learned a lot. The Cool History questions were fun. My first grader could answer most of them, so it might be a bit too light for a 5th grader... I dunno. Actually, they just ask questions from SOTW for the most part, with some "bonus" questions from the parent companion. I think they have samples on the website, so you might be able to better gauge whether they'd be appropriate or not.
ChrissySC
I like the Knowledge Quest maps better than the Biblioplan maps myself. :) I just wanted to toss that in too. They have a schedule for SOTW too.
