Janice H
http://www.city-journal.org/2011/21_3_the-great-courses.html This is a wide ranging article about the business of The Teaching Company. It is mostly very positive, with an inside look at how they recruit professors and how lecturers are paid; the audience for these courses vs students currently in universities; course content; and the company's humble beginnings. fischerl
Very interesting article! I like that the company's mission is all about customer demand, and that these are the courses its customers are asking for. Makes one wonder: why aren't the universities offering them? I already own about 6 or 7 of the Great Courses (2 more on their way--yay!); I'm inspired to keep at it. Thanks for posting this.
