sbgrace
I feel really good about RightStart B and the foundation it's given my kids. But one of mine really needs a switch I think. I purchased a Singapore derivative (Math in Focus) and the kid who needs a switch loves the color and lesson format. His twin who was doing great with RightStart likes being less constrained by his brother's slower speed with the new program too. Because Rightstart took more from me I tended to keep the boys together significantly slowing the one who is more natural at math. It didn't hurt him but it's nice he can go at his own pace more. So it feels like a good switch except... I don't like the presentation of addition in the new program compared to the way RightStart taught it. I find myself glad we learned the RightStart way. Then RightStart B didn't do much subtraction and so to cover subtraction with regrouping and etc. we'll have to switch to this approach. I really don't want to do RightStart C but now I'm wondering how much we'll be missing if we don't learn subtraction the RightStart way?
